These transplanted patients from Northern Ireland attended the British Transplant Games as part of the Transplant Sport Northern Ireland team.
Teams from hospitals across the UK come together to compete in a medley of sports over the 4-day event. It attracts around 1,000 transplant athletes and more than 1,700 supporters.
Click on the link below “short video” and immerse yourself, for a few short minutes, in the awe and wonder of some of our transplanted competitors as they take great pride in taking part in the games…..

For 2022 17 transplanted patients from Northern Ireland attended the British Transplant Games as part of the Transplant Sport Northern Ireland team.
They were supported by two Belfast Health and Social Care Trust staff who provided medical support to the team.
This years’ team ranges in age from 18 to 60+ consisting of 8 Kidney transplantees, 4 Liver recipients, 4 patients who have had their life transformed through bone marrow transplants, and 1 living donor who competed after donating her kidney to her sister, who also attended. The team took part in a wide range of sports including swimming, basketball, archery, table tennis, indoor bowl, ten-pin bowling, badminton, golf, cycling and track and field. For the first time ever, TSNI competed in the 5-a-side football competition.

The unwavering support of Jacqueline Angelone
Following the recent passing of our member Jacqueline Angelone her family requested that donations in lieu of flowers would be welcomed in the name of the Liver Support Group.
We have acknowledged receipt of a particularly generous amount freely given by her family and friends. This will be used to further our support of existing and future liver patients, and to assist in providing vital equipment and resources for the Regional Liver Unit based in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Our thanks go to her husband Marino, her sons Stefano and Marco, and everyone who donated.
One small crumb of comfort for the family from Jacqueline’s passing was that in the end she herself became an organ donor, forever changing the lives of two people she never knew. They are rightly proud.
RVH LSG Member’s Lunch 2022
Almost 90 members, guests and friends came together for our first members’ lunch since 2019 at the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim today. We are delighted that so many not only enjoyed the food but also the opportunity to meet fellow liver patients and old friends, and to make new friends as well. Here are just a few pictures to share with you; hope you enjoy them.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
