The RVH Liver Support Group is delighted to support the launch of Liver UK, the new name for the British Liver Trust and Children’s Liver Disease Foundation. Liver UK brings together the liver community to ensure that everyone affected by liver disease gets the care and support they need — whatever their age and whatever type of liver disease. The launch follows the merger of the British Liver Trust with the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation in 2024.
The launch marks an important milestone in bringing together expertise across both children’s and adult liver disease to create a stronger national organisation that can reach and support more people, raise awareness of liver disease and campaign more effectively for earlier diagnosis, improved care and better outcomes.
Every day, people across the UK are affected by liver disease, whether through their own diagnosis, that of a family member or someone they care for. Yet liver disease remains one of the leading causes of premature death in the UK and many people are diagnosed too late. Liver UK is here to change that.
Pamela Healy OBE, Chief Executive of Liver UK commented: “Whilst we’re excited to launch our new name and identity, two years after our two charities merged, this is about much more than a new look. The launch of Liver UK signifies our commitment to drive improvements in the diagnosis and care of all types of liver disease affecting people of all ages from all the nations and regions in the UK. Through our combined wealth of experience, we have the knowledge and the determination to drive national change by putting liver health firmly on the agenda.”
Liver UK hopes that by working in partnership with The RVH Liver Support Group we can improve liver health for everyone.
The charity’s new website www.liveruk.org is home to a wealth of trusted information on everything from rare childhood liver diseases to a risk checker, enabling adults to assess their risk of preventable liver disease. The rebranded organisation will continue to offer the dedicated support for which the two previous charities were known, whether that is via the nurse helpline, families and young people’s officers or access to an extensive community of shared experience. Working alongside healthcare professionals, charity sector, government and policymakers, Liver UK aims to improve detection, treatment and outcomes for all kinds of liver disease.
