LIVER UK visited NI with their FibroScanners.

Liver UK (recently rebranded from British Liver Trust) was back in N Ireland last week and set up their walk in scanners in Omagh, Coleraine town centre, Junction 1 car park (Antrim) and Newtownards from Monday through Thursday. Over the four days a total of 450 members of the public were scanned using the non invasive FibroScan machines . Of those a total of 36 (8%) were strongly advised to make contact with their GP in order to follow up with further investigations.

We would like to thank the Liver UK team for coming over for the four days and carrying out these much welcomed scans. This is where we can become more proactive in the management of impending liver conditions and the hope is that, for those with high readings, they will at least make needed changes to their lifestyle and follow up with their GP.
